With white elephants crossing KES9 trillion, equivallent to the size of Kenya's entire economy, maybe, just maybe, it might take some miracle for our good old NSE20 to cross the 2,000 mark and stay above it before elections happen next August.

A bit late to comment on this but just thought that directors of loss making public traded companies should not be given packages like all is well and leave the company worse off due to there poor decisions taken when they were in the driving seat. In my view think there remuneration should be based on yearly performance same way shareholders get dividends when the company does well. Then those salaries... etc.

E/P: 31.74,
Dividend: 18(2020)

Safaricom
Share price: 41.20
E/P:1.71,
Dividend: 0.92(2020)

which would be the better share?

No hope of recovery here. Atleast not soon. I have seen people predicting recovery in 2022, others 2023, 2024, 2025 but it is highly unlikely that the NSE 20 will go past 3000 points in the next bull run. As @Wukan pointed out, the Kenyan economy is structurally flawed and requires a major shift. I have seen top 2022 presidential contenders pushing rhetoric about how to fix economy. Hustler is talking about bottoms-up, middle-out approach and Baba is talking about devolution of resources and stimulus package for rural-folk and subsistence farmers. Like the animals in George Orwell's Animal Farm, i cannot tell the difference of Hustler-economics and Baba-economics. They seem to be saying the same thing

Tom Gitogo tried his best in turning around the company.
Are you able to point out a poor decision he made.Plus that was the package he negotiated/was given when he was appointed.
The decisions leading to the poor performance were made before Tom became ceo.

He ventured the company into the quoted equities whose value on the balance sheet grew ten times.
As for the others it was tough since the company had a corporate bond which they were paying annual interest of ksh.650mn.
Then they had/have land assets yielding zero cashflow returns.
They have pegged sale of them as key to turnaround strategy.
