That AGM left me more confused.. It's better if I hadn't made the effort to attend. My takehome message was via dear MJ who was bold enough to state that KQ will still run at a loss through to 2021 incase the airline does not grow it's revenue aggressively..

In that AGM who cares whether @obiero averaged down or up? People do care about their "tumbofare"...Shareholder is used as an avenue of financial pillar in times of corporate needs like Rights Issue, passing resolutions by acclamation to approve new directors to the board and et cetera.

That's ridiculous. Why would you hold such a stock???
Is the board and mgmt trying to say there is no way to reduce operational costs? If that isn't possible just close the damn thing.

The share price is primed to fall faster than novice @Wanjiku can average down.
Yesterday there was demand as speculators were expecting good news from AGM. MJ's remark has caused stir and panic now you can see demand has dried up as traders retreat.

Court says KQ to pay Mbugua Shs 27,000,000
https://www.businessdail...153714-mxjpf/index.html

The judges agreed that Justice Monicah Mbaru of the Labour Court was right in finding that KQ was in breach of the law when it summarily terminated Mr Mbugua’s employment.
“It is quite obvious to us that KQ conflated the performance review and disciplining process and came up with what was essentially a hybrid, mongrel process that did not fall under either category,” they said.
They added that the process was tainted and it would seem the performance angle was no more than a red-herring to get rid of him from KQ.
“His fate was determined even before he was summoned to attend the Serena session, whatever it was, with the demand that he resign, the barricading of his office, disablement of his email and the like,” they added.

Very worrying that a big company like KQ can chase away senior management like thugs knowing very well that courts give on average 1 year's pay for wrongful dismissal. Where were the HR people and lawyers to advise? Why didn't they just serve him with notice?

Kenya Airways Proposes State-Run Entity as Airport Bid Fails

Kenya Airways Plc. is willing to operate under a state-owned holding company after the troubled airline failed in its bid to jointly run the country’s main airport, according to Chairman Michael Joseph.

Lawmakers in the East African nation are expected to issue alternative proposals, including the possible partial nationalization of Kenya Airways, after they last month rejected the airline’s proposal to operate Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with the state-owned Kenya Airports Authority, Joseph said in an interview Monday.

The airline, which reported a 5.95 billion shillings ($59 million) full-year loss, is proposing a model similar to Emirates Airline and Ethiopian Airlines Enterprise, which operate as units of state-owned holding companies. Such an arrangement would enable able it to double its fleet in five years, Joseph said.
“We need the financial structure to enable us to do that,” he said. “It might not be cash, it might be the balance sheet which is why the airport deal was very important for us.”

Kenyan lawmakers may release a report with recommendations on the future of the airline as early as Tuesday.
Kenya Airways, which is 48.9% owned by the government, is also on the hunt for a chief executive officer after Sebastian Mikosz said he would step down before the end of his three-year contract.

“A mature, seasoned executive is what I will hire,” Joseph said. “There’s not many around. If it’s delayed beyond December there’ll be still strong leadership.”
